Building New Beginnings: Kerri Webb’s Journey to Homeownership

Kerri Webb’s journey to homeownership is a story of resilience, determination, and hope. Originally from Massachusetts, Kerri made the courageous decision to start over in 2020, moving to Florida with her 6-year-old daughter, Ariella, and little more than two suitcases. Leaving behind a toxic and abusive situation, Kerri knew she had to create a brighter future for her daughter—a place where they could feel safe, stable, and secure.

When Kerri and Ariella arrived in Florida, they leaned on the love and support of Kerri’s parents, who welcomed them with open arms. Though their lives were full of highs and lows, Kerri refused to let her challenges define her. Instead, she focused on building a better life. She found a fulfilling career as a licensed insurance agent and started piecing together a new chapter for her family. Yet, there was one piece missing—a permanent home to call their own.

In July 2023, Kerri took the first step toward fulfilling that dream by joining Habitat for Humanity of Marion County. Over the past year, she has dedicated herself to the program, contributing an incredible 420 sweat equity hours. These hours were spent not just working on her own home but helping build homes for others in the Habitat community. Through this process, Kerri has embraced the values of teamwork, perseverance, and community spirit.

For Kerri, this home represents so much more than just walls and a roof. “I am excited beyond words to have a new home for my daughter and me,” Kerri shared. “It means the world to me to have a place to call OUR home, one we can feel secure in.” She dreams of sitting on her porch with a good book in hand, watching Ariella play outside. And for Ariella, having her own room—painted in “rainbow” colors, of course—is the highlight of this new chapter.

This life-changing milestone was made possible thanks to the generosity of sponsors who believe in the power of giving back. Businesses like Gabriel’s Christian Book & Supply, Warren’s Power Washing, Legacy Furniture and Mattress, and Country Road Quilters played a vital role in making Kerri’s dream a reality. Additionally, a heartfelt thank you goes to Chris’ Carpet Care, whose team ensured that Kerri’s home was spotless and welcoming for move-in day. It’s acts of kindness like these that remind us all how much can be accomplished when a community comes together.

Kerri’s story is a testament to the power of hope and perseverance. She has faced challenges head-on and shown her daughter that no matter how difficult life gets, strength and faith can pave the way for brighter days. Her journey is a reminder that a home is more than just a structure—it’s a foundation for stability, joy, and countless memories yet to be made.
